About the GTHO Phase 2

The GT.HO Phase II’s started to roll off the production line in June 1970. They were powered by the latest version of the Cleveland 351 cu.in motor that, breathing through a 780cfm Holley carburetor, produced some 300bhp at 5,400rpm. Further improvements from its GT.HO predecessors could be found in, amongst other areas, the transmission including a close ratio gearbox and a 9-inch Daytona differential with a ratio of 3.50:1. The improvements boosted the already impressive performance of the GT range and with top speeds of around 217kph (135mph) and the ability to cover a standing start 1/4 mile in just over 14 seconds in standard road trim the GT.HO Phase II was a force to be reckoned with.

Only 286 GT.HO Phase II’s were made by the Ford Motor Co. and only a small proportion of these survive to this day. It is interesting to note that the GT.HO Phase II’s were the only GT.HOs never to be defeated at Bathurst.
