Here we have a 1972 Holden HQ Tow Truck 253 V8 Automatic with power steering . Believed to be an original 202 high compression off the long ID tag
The vehicle first spent its life as a NSW tow truck it was then brought down to Melbourne and continued its life as a tow truck for a short while then the owners son started a company called Race Safe which is still currently running. The early days of RACESAFE brought together some the most talented motorsport emergency people available, some of which had 15 – 20 years’ experience in motorsport safety. The team provided emergency services and safety operations to 12 events in its first year including V8 Supercar rounds and Australian Road Racing Championships as it developed its reputation mainly focusing on events at Winton Motor Raceway. This vehicle was one of the first vehicle used at Winton raceway as a recovery and fire Marshall vehicle when the business first started.
The condition of the vehicle is excellent for the age of the car there is no rust anywhere on the vehicle and it has a very solid body shell. The interior is spot on and the paint whilst being painted many years ago is not 100% but looks very presentable. It has a Hq Statesman front GTS guards and genuine HQ GTS Monaro Coupe bucket seats (in excellent condition) all flashing lights are operational and the vehicle is still fitted with the original old school CB radio. Mechanicals and electrical have been gone over by mechanic and Auto Electrician and the vehicle has been detailed thoroughly The Ute stands up very presentable and turns heads everywhere when being driven on the road. The rear checker plate has been replaced and a new operational winch fitted as the original one was not working. There is also a faint outline on the bonnet of a number 2 which was originally on the car when being used at Winton.
